Cuba awarded at 30th Minsk Book Fair

Authorities of the 30th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair, awarded a Recognition Diploma to Cuba's stand, Ambassador to Minsk Santiago Perez informed on Monday.
The Cuban diplomat told Prensa Latina that Belarusian Deputy Information Minister Igor Buzovskiy, who highlighted the participation of representatives of 20 nations in the cultural event, delivered the award at the closing ceremony.
Buzovskiy said that despite the complex international situation, the fact that publishers and writers from several nations came together and presented quality works was a sign of the power of culture among peoples.
The deputy information minister emphasized that positive comments were received from online launchings. “I hope that the writers, the people who worked for the visitors, are satisfied with the work organized during these days,” he said.
On the other hand, Perez mentioned that Cuba’s stand was one of the most visited during the six-day fair, especially by foreign students in Minsk and students of the Linguistic University of the Belarusian capital.
Several Belarusian Government leaders, including Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik, Director for the Latin America department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dimitri Derevinski, and Executive Director of the Book Fair Dimitri Makarov, among others, also visited the Cuban stand, the diplomat said.
