Acosta Danza concluded its Ten Years in Motion season this Sunday at the National Theater of Cuba, marking the beginning of the company's tenth anniversary celebrations and paving the way for a new international tour. From September 23-27, the group led by star dancer Carlos Acosta will perform at the prestigious Sadler's Wells in London, bringing British audiences a representative sample of its diverse and established repertoire.

The program, which will be presented in the United Kingdom, includes highly relevant premieres and reruns that have defined Acosta Danza's artistic identity. Highlights include 98 Days, a creation by Spanish-Venezuelan choreographer Javier de Frutos inspired by Federico García Lorca's stay on the island. Also added to the repertoire is La Iguala, one of the most celebrated pieces by Cuban choreographer Georges Céspedes, along with reruns of Llamada, by Goyo Montero, and De punta a cabo, by Yaday Ponce, based on the original work by Alexis Fernández, nominated for the 2022 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Dance in Great Britain.

A distinctive element of this season was the renewal of the cast, which now includes young graduates of the Acosta Danza academy, reaffirming the company's commitment to the training and advancement of new generations of dancers. This change brings freshness and new energy to a project that, since its founding in 2015, has championed a dialogue between tradition and the avant-garde, experimentation, and openness to diverse choreographic languages.

In its first decade of existence, Acosta Danza has established itself as one of the main showcases for contemporary Cuban dance internationally. The "Diez años en movimiento" (Ten Years in Motion) season not only celebrates the journey it has made, but also projects the future of a group that has successfully combined artistic excellence with a desire to build bridges between cultures, bringing the vitality and richness of Cuban choreographic creation to global stages.
