Water for Climate Action
especiales

From August 24 to 28, the 2025 World Water Week was held under the theme "Water for Climate Action." This forum has become a key space for debating global water challenges and for proposing strategies that help mitigate the water crisis in the context of climate change.
The event brings together experts, international organizations, and government representatives to analyze the most urgent issues related to water management. The lack of access to this essential resource directly affects food and energy production, education, and public health. In hospitals in many countries, for instance, there is no running or clean water, which leads to serious health problems and a high number of infections and deaths.
The figures presented by UNICEF and the World Health Organization are alarming. A total of 2.1 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water services, and 4.5 billion do not have adequate sanitation. Each year, about 340,000 child deaths from diarrheal diseases are linked to these deficiencies, and at least 1.8 billion people consume water contaminated with fecal matter.
World Water Week seeks not only to shed light on this crisis, but also to promote concrete actions that integrate sustainable water management as a central axis in the fight against climate change. Safe access to water is considered a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
In a world where four out of every ten people live with water scarcity, this event highlights the urgency of turning commitments into real policies. Water, the basis of life and human progress, remains an unequal and fragile resource whose responsible management will be decisive for the planet’s future.
