Vice President Francia Marquez will make an official visit to Cuba in the context of the Havana International Book Fair, whose guest of honor is Colombia, the Foreign Ministry confirmed.

"Returning to Cuba as Vice President of the Republic of Colombia, after my visit a few years ago as a member of the victims' table in the peace dialogues between the Colombian State and the FARC, is evidence that in Colombia we are making our yearning for total peace a reality," said the Vice President.

She emphasized that, of course, Cuba's role in this path has been fundamental, quoted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a note to the press.

The cultural ties between both nations must be strengthened and the 31st Havana Book Fair is a great opportunity in that sense, said Francia.

She stressed that Cuba is one of the Latin American countries that has developed better diplomatic relations with African countries and has the largest number of consulates and embassies.

"As Vice President of Colombia, I have, as a presidential assignment, to lead the Africa-Caribbean strategy; as well as the National Government's policy of international cooperation with Afro-descendant and indigenous movements," she stressed.

"Those are other priorities of our official visit to this beautiful Caribbean country," highlighted the Colombian Vice President.

"Participating in the Havana Book Fair is an excellent opportunity to continue strengthening the ties of friendship that already exist between both countries and that have been built by men and women of the arts and cultures, such as our great writer Gabriel García Márquez, whose literature is well known in Cuba," she emphasized.
