Berlin, Nov 23 (Prensa Latina) US filmmaker Steven Spielberg will receive the Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement at the Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale, in 2023, the event's organizing committee announced.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that the festival will also screen his most recent feature-length film, The Fabelmans.

According to critics, it opens a window to learn about significant events during Spielberg’s childhood.

Berlinale Director Duo Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian expressed their pride in the presence of the screenwriter and described this opportunity to showcase his work as the best possible start for this kind of international event that brings together many artists and specialists.

Spielberg’s credits consist of more than 100 feature-length films and series, and several awards, including three Oscars and numerous Golden Globes and Emmys.

He was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the United Kingdom and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in his native country. The 73rd edition of the Berlinale, scheduled from February 16 to 26, 2023, will award, as usual, the Golden Bear, the Silver Bear, and the Honorary Bear in the Best Director, Best Actor/Actress, Best Film categories, among others that recognize the current panorama of world cinema.
