Caracas, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday congratulated the Cuban government and people on the occasion of the National Rebellion Day and the 69th anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks.

In a communique issued by the Foreign Ministry, Nicolás Maduro paid tribute to the Centennial Generation headed by revolutionary leader Fidel Castro (1926-2016), who “stood at the forefront of the struggle for the full independence of Cuba by facing and defeating the atrocious Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.”

Venezuela highlighted the transcendence of the attacks on the Moncada Barrack in Santiago de Cuba and the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Barrack in Bayamo, both in eastern Cuba, as the driving force of the Cuban people’s consciences as well as the beginning of the future Rebel Army, which could achieve the definitive victory over the tyranny on January 1, 1959.

A triumph of the revolutionary forces that currently continue inspiring the battles our latin American, Caribbean and global peoples wage in defense of our dignity, sovereignty and independence,” the Venezuelan government stressed.

Venezuela also reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Cuba, which 69 years later follows the libertarian pathway started by the Centennial Generation, “as faithful legacy for the construction of a world of peace, freedom and justice.”
