The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated this Wednesday that xenophobic claims comparing Venezuelans to criminal groups like the Tren de Aragua must cease, noting that the group was exterminated by the nation's military police force.

"Discriminatory and xenophobic claims comparing the Venezuelan identity to criminal groups that were attacked and exterminated in Venezuela must cease," the head of state stated while leading a new meeting of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace.

Furthermore, the dignitary emphasized that "Venezuela is not the Tren de Aragua, it is a country of honest, humane, hardworking people."

He added that "especially today in the United States, they try to lie and claim that Venezuelans are an offshoot of a criminal band that we exterminated here: the Tren de Aragua."

On the other hand, the President insisted: "Venezuela is a country full of values and a collective desire to live," he said, while stressing that its people "fear no one and want to prosper in peace."

The statements occur within the framework of the convened National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, which, after a month of operation, delivered to the head of state the results from its four installed working tables: International, Political, Communications, and Economic. These have produced over 30 activities that will be implemented in the coming months.
