Holguín Cubs and the 64th SNB After the Ravages of Hurricane Melissa

As is known, Holguín was one of the provinces damaged after Hurricane Melissa passed through eastern Cuban territory.
But despite the difficulties inherent to the meteorological phenomenon, which other teams are also overcoming, the Holguín team will travel to the 26 de Julio Stadium to restart actions this Wednesday in the 64th National Baseball Series against the local Artemisa squad.
“The situation is complex for us, because we suffered the violent impact of the hurricane in our territory, and some athletes and coaches experienced direct damages, which logically generates concern,” young manager Lugdis Pineda told JIT.
“Furthermore, it will be difficult to play after more than eight days without being able to train, mainly for the pitchers, which will require the technical staff to carefully dose their work to avoid injuries,” he asserted.
Nevertheless, Pineda emphasized that the entire Holguín Puppies collective is aware that the series must continue, due to its significance as entertainment needed by the people, especially at a time like the present.
“With that motivation, we arrived in Havana after a long journey and managed to have a light practice because it had been many days without doing anything,” he stated.
“This Tuesday we will practice again without many demands, as part of the recovery process, to then get closer to how we were before the event was stopped,” concluded the talented manager, optimistic about that objective.
Under his direction, the Holguín Puppies show a positive record of 25 wins and 14 losses, placing them in second position in the standings, just half a game behind the leading Matanzas Crocodiles (26-14).
