Hanoi, Oct 1 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero concluded today in Ho Chi Minh City his visit to Vietnam, where he held meetings with the highest authorities of the Communist Party, the State, Government and Parliament.

Marrero held meetings with local government and political leaders, and visited sites of historical and economic interest before traveling on Sunday, October 2, to Vientiane, Laos, in the continuation of his tour of Southeast Asia, his first as head of government, which will conclude on October 6 in Cambodia.

The day before in Hanoi, the prime minister participated in a Vietnam-Cuba Business Promotion Forum attended by representatives of more than 70 national enterprises, and also met with solidarity groups, Cuban residents and members of the Cuban state mission.

At the meeting, he commented on the results of the official talks held with his counterpart Pham Minh Chinh and other government ministers and assured that, once again, Cuba will count on Vietnam’s appreciated assistance.

Marrero started his Asia tour on September 27 in Japan where he attended the funeral of late former prime minister Abe Shinzo-

In Ho Chi Minh City, more than 1,600 kilometers from Hanoi, Marrero who is also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba visited the historic Cuchi tunnels, dug with rudimentary tools by the militia of that district of the former Saigon from 1946 to 1968.

Later, the Cuban head of government toured the Saigon High-Tech Park, a 913-hectare site founded in 2022 and which has so far attracted more than 12 billion dollars in domestic and foreign investment.

The technology site encompasses 51 foreign direct investment projects worth more than $10.1 billion and another 110 domestic ones valued at $1.93 billion.
