Diaz-Canel pays tribute to Fidel Castro in Santiago de Cuba

President Miguel Diaz-Canel paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in Santiago de Cuba province, local media reported on Friday.
Diaz-Canel paid tribute to Fidel at the Santa Ifigenia Patrimonial Cemetery, where the remains of heroes, martyrs, and other figures from the island’s history are buried, a statement from the Presidency of the Republic noted.
The head of State also honored Mariana Grajales, mother of brave independence fighters and considered in Cuba to be the Mother of the Nation, during his visit to the cemetery on Thursday, according to the statement also published on social media.
The president also paid tribute to Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, initiator of the struggles for independence on the island and recognized here as the Father of the Nation, and National Hero Jose Marti at the mausoleum that houses his remains.
