The traditional Sábado del Libro event, held on Calle de Madera in Havana’s historic center, will today feature Ese sol del mundo moral by Cintio Vitier, one of Cuba’s most significant writers of all time.

Published by the José Martí National Library, the text reflects the progressive development of justice and the struggles to achieve it throughout Cuba’s history.

Belonging to the Biblioteca del Pueblo Collection, the book examines the figure of José Martí from a comprehensive perspective, “without schematism or sectarianism, yet influential on all and everyone who contributed to shaping ethics as the loving foundation of the nation.”

According to a press release from the Cuban Institute of the Book (ICL), this literary work reflects, from a moral perspective, the key moments that have contributed to the formation of national identity and reveal an ethical foundation.

Regarding the volume, the Cuban encyclopedia EcuRed emphasizes: “Its pages uncover the essence of being Cuban and help us navigate the unique paths of a people who laboriously forged themselves, facing obstacles unknown to others, with the heroic and anonymous struggle of the slaves who were the first Cubans because they led the way in giving their lives for freedom.”

The ICL hosts the event every Saturday, offering an opportunity to enjoy literature and engage in dialogue with the works of prominent authors.
