ZICUFA Denounces US Attempt to Impose Total Fuel Blockade on Cuba
The Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association (ZICUFA) condemned today the new escalation of the US economic blockade in its effort to impose a total shutdown of fuel supplies to the Caribbean nation.
"We denounce the executive order by President Donald Trump to declare a supposed national emergency, under which his government may impose commercial tariffs on countries supplying fuel to the island," the statement declares.
Critique of the Order's Justification
According to the statement, to justify such an extreme action, the text of the order contains an extensive list of lies and defamatory accusations.
It also describes as absurd the claim that the Antillean country constitutes an "unusual and extraordinary threat" to the peace and national security of the United States.
"The new executive order increases Washington's unjust actions against the island and its people," the declaration adds.
Call for Fair and Equitable Treatment
"As ZICUFA, we call for fair and equitable treatment for the sovereign Republic of Cuba."
