Hanoi, Jul 27 (Prensa Latina) In the mid of the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam, green (safe) areas predominate, according to reports of the Ministry of Health released today in this capital.

Of the 63 provinces and cities in the country, 51 are reliable areas against the spread of the disease, nine more than in the report issued 10 days ago, the Ministry pointed out.

It also specified that 90,7% of the 10,600 communes in the country are recognized as green zones; 7,8% are classified as “yellow” (of possible transmission of the disease), and only 1,5% as “orange” (high risk) or “red” (blocked).

In view of the complicated evolution of the pandemic in several countries and the increase of cases in the national territory, the Ministry of Health urged the provinces to accelerate the administration of the third dose of the vaccines for people from 12 years of age and the basic dose for children from five to 11 years of age.

In addition, the VNA news agency said, it urged to strengthen communication efforts to raise public awareness of the persistence of the disease, as well as to intensify preventive measures and monitoring for the emergence of new strains of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which caused Covid-19, or other epidemics.

In its report of the day before, the Ministry of Health reported that in the past 24 hours, 1,460 new patients were diagnosed with the new coronavirus, whose subvariants BA.4, BA.5 represent an increasing proportion among recent cases.

The total number of Covid-19 patients detected in Vietnam since the beginning of the pandemic is now 10,770,304, of whom 9,874,075 have recovered and 43,092 have died.
