Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Sunday reaffirmed his country's commitment to multilateralism and peace as the only avenue to guarantee peoples´ rights and development.

On Twitter, Nicolás Maduro claimed the 21st century will mark the end of hegemonic powers, because “another world of respect and complementarity is being born.”

“Today, we celebrate the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, paramount tools to strengthen integration among nations, promote respect for human rights, sustainable development and rights for peace,” Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia stated.

On December 12, 2018, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) passed resolution setting down April 24 as the date to recall and promote values of UNGLA’s Charter and principles of dispute resolution through peaceful mechanisms.

Likewise, it allows to reaffirm the significance and relevance of multilateralism and international law, and foster common goal of achieving lasting and sustained peace through diplomacy, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry outlined in a press release.
