The government of Venezuela expressed its deepest solidarity with the Cuban people following the news of the death of 32 Cubans as a result of the U.S. attack on Venezuela. The Acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, called for "honor and glory" for the Cuban brothers and sisters "who were murdered during the criminal military aggression by the U.S. against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela."

"Our condolences to President Díaz-Canel, the government, and the glorious people of Cuba. Fly high, combatants! Your example is sown in the sacred land of Simón Bolívar as an example of bravery and dignity," stated the Acting President.

"The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela pays homage to the 32 Cuban combatants who gave their lives fulfilling their duty, within the framework of cooperation and defense missions, as a consequence of the criminal and infamous attack perpetrated by the United States Government against Venezuelan territory in the early hours of January 3, 2026," expressed the official statement issued by the Venezuelan government.

The communiqué specified that "this personnel was acting within the framework of cooperation between sovereign states and were carrying out institutional protection and defense tasks." Venezuela acknowledged the actions of the Cubans in the exercise of their profession, distinguishing in them "the bravery, discipline, and unwavering commitment to peace and regional stability."

In this sense, it thanked the revolutionary Cuban government "for its accompaniment and solidary steadfastness, extending a fraternal embrace to the Revolutionary Armed Forces and to the families of the fallen combatants, whose sacrifice strengthens the historical bonds of brotherhood, sovereignty, and shared struggle between our nations." Cuba has supported the Venezuelan people since the beginning of the aggressions by the United States, denouncing each of the unilateral threats made in recent months.

Cuba has declared a national mourning period to honor the 32 compatriots who were victims of the attack carried out by the United States against Venezuela. The mourning will begin on January 5 at 6:00 a.m. and continue until 12:00 midnight on January 6.
