Varadero Set to Host Grand Final of International Open Water Series
The renowned resort of Varadero, considered Cuba's premier tourist destination, will host the Grand Final of the 2025-2026 Gran Retto International Open Water Series from September 12 to 13 this year. The event is already generating enthusiasm among swimming enthusiasts of various ages, who view this season finale as an opportunity to experience a sporting event in a unique setting.

Organizers Confirm Event with Cuban Support
The Mexican company organizing the event confirmed the call with the support of Cubadeportes and the Ministry of Tourism. Swimmers, clubs, sports schools, and the general public will have access to a competition marking the end of the 2025-2026 competitive cycle. Organizers emphasized that the proposal aims to attract participants motivated by a natural setting that combines beauty, challenge, and an ideal environment for sport.

The Mexican agency Inspiración Deportiva Sello NRL highlighted that each athlete will aim to culminate their sporting year in one of the world's most admired destinations, after months of effort, discipline, and self-improvement. The publication described the experience with a phrase summarizing the event's spirit: "Swimming in Varadero is feeling freedom in every movement, surrounded by a natural environment that inspires you to go further."

Event Features Distances for All Levels
The distance program offers alternatives for all levels. The Gran Retto Xtreme category, with a 10-kilometer course, targets competitors seeking a maximum challenge. The 5-kilometer Gran Retto event is presented as the emblematic option for those wishing to test their endurance.

The Retto distances of 1.5 and 3 kilometers are geared toward those combining speed and personal achievement. The 750-meter route is proposed as an entry point for new talents beginning their journey in open water. Inspiración Deportiva Sello NRL described this range of options as a structure ensuring no one is left out of the season finale.

Registration and Event Logistics
The event's official website will provide detailed information on logistics, packages, accommodation, and technical aspects. Registration for this fifth edition will open on April 15, marking the formal start of the process for those wishing to secure their participation.

Venue and Festive Atmosphere
The Occidental Arenas Blancas hotel, part of the Gran Caribe business group, will serve as the meeting point, start, and finish line. Its waters will be the central stage for the competition for medals and trophies. The final will include a highly attractive opening ceremony and a raffle organized by Cubadeportes, elements adding a festive component to the competitive finale.
