Described by the Van Van orchestra as irreplaceable and necessary, César "Pupy" Pedroso is walking the road to eternity today, while his footprints remain in the Cuban music industry.

From the social network Instagram, the group known as “The Music Train” on the island lamented the death of its founder in 1969, along with iconic Juan Formel, with whom he promoted the birth of the songo rhythm.

“Our orchestra owes you a lot, nothing we can say will come close to your immense and great work, today Los Van Van are in mourning, you are one of the unforgettable, irreplaceable and always necessary”, points out the publication of the ensemble directed by Samuel Formel, to which Pedroso dedicated 32 years of his life.

His journey through the popular music of the Caribbean nation was marked by groups such as Fascinación, Sensación, Revé and the Bolero ensemble, until he took the baton in 2001 and directed Pupy y Los que Son, Son, where he displayed his entire creative arsenal.

As a pianist, arranger and composer, he bequeathed memorable titles.

Fresh lyrics and the mixture of native rhythms such as son, salsa and timba, batá drums and piano tumbaos, define the catalog of more than 150 pieces signed by Pedroso, which enjoy the acceptance of audiences of various ages.

As reported by the Cuban Institute of Music, Pupy died this Sunday at the age of 75 (September 24, 1946-July 17, 2022), which means a heavy blow to the culture of the island, which in 2013 distinguished with the National Music Award.
