United Nations, Aug 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's permanent representative to the UN, Pedro Luis Pedroso, asserted that the US provocative actions against China reflect fear of its political elites of losing global hegemony.

In a message on his Twitter account, the diplomat warned that such actions violate Washington’s own foreign policy stances towards the Asian nation.

“Unable to admit that we live in another world, the provocative actions of the United States vs China, which violate its own foreign policy stances regarding that country, reflect growing fears of US political elites of loss of global hegemony,” Pedroso wrote.

A statement from the Cuban Foreign Ministry yesterday expressed its firm rejection to the actions aimed at harming China’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

New provocations, disguised as official contacts or high-level visits, deliberately generate additional dangers, the statement stressed, ratifying Cuba’s unrestricted attachment to the “one China” principle and the recognition of Taiwan as an inalienable part of its territory.

Despite Beijing’s warnings, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress, Nancy Pelosi, made a stopover in her tour of Asia and visited Taiwan yesterday, an act considered a violation of Chinese national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The UN General Assembly, in its resolution 2758, adopted on October 25, 1971, recognized the Government of Beijing which has relations with 181 countries, as the true and only legitimate representative of the Chinese people, on the basis of the recognition of the “one China” principle.
