Representatives of the governments of Türkiye and Cuba held today in this capital the 5th Technical Follow-up Meeting for economic and commercial collaboration.

According to diplomatic sources, the session was chaired by Ana Teresita González Fraga, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the Caribbean country, and Mustafa Tuzcu, Deputy Minister of Commerce of the Republic of Türkiye.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed various issues of mutual interest in the economic, commercial and financial areas, specifically in sectors such as energy, transportation, agri-food, health, tourism, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, the report said.

In the context of the visit of the Cuban representative, a Business Forum was held, organized by the Board of Foreign Economic Relations of Türkiye.

González Fraga also held meetings with the vice minister of Foreign Affairs of this country, Faruc Kaymakci, and the president of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Serkan Kayalar.

The official also met with Faik Yavuz, Vice President of the Türkiye Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Shipping and Commodities (TOBB).

This edition of the Technical Meeting was considered a clear sign of the shared will that encourages both States to strengthen economic and commercial ties and raise them to the same level of political relations.

Cuba and Türkiye have been united by historical ties of brotherhood, solidarity and mutual respect for more than 70 years.
