A Tribute from Cuban Literature: A Song of Friendship for Wichy Nogueras

The traditional "Sábado del Libro" (Book Saturday) space, held on Calle de Madera in Havana's Historic Center, will today host the presentation of the volume Vidas y caminos de Wichy Nogueras, authored by Frank Padrón.

Published by Editorial José Martí, the pages of this text offer readers a literary and textological analysis of his poetry, as well as his trajectory in the cinematic field as a screenwriter, co-producer, and creator of animated films.

The literary work also includes several poems by Padrón, inspired by the work and personality of the writer, considered by many to be the most important poet of his generation.

The book "is a song of friendship, personal appreciation, and enormous professional devotion towards a man whose brief earthly existence not only left deep marks in the intellectual and artistic field, but also sowed indelible human memories."

A distinguished Cuban poet, novelist, and screenwriter, Luis Rogelio Nogueras left behind a vast literary legacy before his passing on July 6, 1985, in Havana. His work continues to transcend to this day and is fondly remembered by admirers, such as his friend Frank Padrón.

Convened by the Cuban Book Institute, the "Sábado del Libro" invites attendees each Saturday to an encounter with significant titles that promote dialogue among colleagues and the pleasure of literature.
