German conductor Michael Elvermann will reportedly direct the Holguin Symphony Orchestra, which will perform excerpts from the opera “The Magic Flute” by W.A. Mozart, in this eastern Cuban city.

The concert is part of the 2022-2023 season of this orchestra, which is sponsored by the German Embassy in Havana and supported by several cultural Cuban institutions.

Elvermann told the press that the work of artists from Holguin demonstrates their talent, discipline and quality, fundamental characteristics to achieve this unique performance of this piece composed in 1791.

The concert will feature lyrical singers Alfredo Mas, Isabel Torres, Camilo Hijuelos, Eyesmela Dieguez, Carlos Manuel Gonzalez, Senia Lopez, Enrique Chavez, Dania Lopez, Jose Gabriel Reyes and Sheyla Sanchez.

Oreste Saavedra, regular conductor of this orchestra, said that this is a project that they have longed for some years. He also intends to perform the complete opera in future seasons.
