Moscow, Dec 22 (Prensa Latina) Russia has the right to consider the supply of Patriot systems to Ukraine as a direct involvement of the United States in the conflict, said the spokesman for the Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev.

“In any case, regardless of what President Joe Biden says about defensive weapons, we consider that such a delivery would be another significant step to get involved further on the ground,” the senator wrote on Telegram.

Kosachev also said that Biden needed the presence of Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelenski in Washington so that he could intervene before Congress in his capacity as a professional actor.

“The White House meeting was nothing more than a photo session compared to the task Zelensky was solving by speaking to congressmen, the people who control the purse with US military and economic aid,” Kosachev said.

The spokesman recalled that in May of this year, 57 Republicans from the House of Representatives and 11 from the United States Senate voted against one of the aid packages for Ukraine.

In March, the proportion of the electorate for Republicans agreeing to continue helping Ukraine was 80 percent, and in November it was just over 50.

“We’ll see what happens when the visit ends and the fanfare dies down, because the mere fact that Zelensky was urgently summoned to Washington ‘from the frontline’ says it all,” Kosachev said. “If this show was needed urgently, it means that not everything is going as smoothly as Washington and its sponsors want to present to the world,” he summed up.
