Havana, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) on Monday reported that 9,991,536 Cuban citizens, accounting for 90.2 percent of the population, have completed the Covid-19 vaccination scheme.

According to the MINSAP website, 10,703,051 citizens have already received one dose of homegrown vaccines, 9,430,371 have been administered the second dose, and 9,132,237 have received the third.

Cuba has administered 41,851,642 doses of the homegrown vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus, and Abdala, and 8,494,680 people have received a booster dose, the MINSAP reported.

Cuba’s homegrown vaccines are safe and cause no serious side effect on patients, according to successful clinical trials and the vaccination of several sectors of the population.

The staggered strategy aims at achieving more protection against new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The National Statistics Office reported that Cuba’s population was 11,105,814 in late March 2022.
