Several Cubans, including national champion Jorge Roberto Elías, have been confirmed for the premier section of the Revolution Chess Cup, which will be held in Mexico City from this Wednesday through the 17th.
The Camagüey native registered with the fifth-highest Elo rating in the so-called First Force segment, thanks to his 2,490 points. He follows players such as his compatriot Luis Ernesto Quesada (2,555), who represents Mexico, France's Mahel Boyer (2,523), and Turkey's Isik Can (2,515).
Other participants from the Island include Elier Miranda (2,490), Dylan Berdayes (2,453), Luis Daniel Rodríguez (2,389), Rodney Pérez (2,258), and Amanda Múñiz (2,149), in a list of over 40 players.
Tournaments for All Ages
As part of the event, age-group tournaments for each sex have also been announced, with a clear intention of facilitating the development of children from the age of seven and up. So far, more than 300 players have been confirmed for these categories.
The Revolution Cup held its first edition in 2013 with only rapid games. Since then, it has evolved, grown in the number of participants, switched to a classical format for duels, and increased its prize fund.
