Seven Cubans confirmed for athletics rallies in Europe in the coming days

 Several of the leading figures of Cuban athletics, including triple jumpers Lázaro Martínez and Leyanis Pérez, will participate in athletics rallies in Europe in the coming days with an eye on Paris-2024.

The first to compete will be the double world medalist Martínez, who will appear this Thursday at the sixth stop of the Diamond League in Oslo (Norway)

After his victory in the previous stop in Marrakech (Morocco), with 17.10m, Martínez arrives at this Thursday's phase with 8 points in the fight for the crown, only behind the Cuban who is also competing for Portugal Pedro Pablo Pichardo (15 points).

Pichardo, Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020, does not appear in the Oslo entry, although other stellar triple figures in the world will be in the event, such as the current world champion, Hugues Fabrice Zango (Burkina Faso), the Brazilian Almis dos Santos, the Frenchman Jean-Marc Pontvianne, and the American star Christian Taylor, who seeks to rediscover his best level.

For their part, on Saturday five Cubans are confirmed for the City of Salamanca Trophy, led by the Olympic finalist in Tokyo 2020 in the 400m, Roxana Gómez, winner last Sunday in Forbach (France) with 50.84 seconds.

In addition to Roxana, one of the seven Cubans qualified for Paris 2024 in athletics, in the city where the best high jumper in history, Javier Sotomayor, achieved his world record of 2.45, there will be other Cubans seeking to reach marks that will allow them reach the Olympic event.

They are Yoandys Lescay (400m), Daily Cooper (800), and Shainer Reginfo and Reinaldo Espinosa, both in 100m, who also competed in Forbach.

The other athlete from the island confirmed to compete in the coming days is the double world medalist Leyanis Pérez (triple), who will do so next Sunday in the Diamond League in Stockholm (Sweden).

Leyanis, considered one of the island's main athletics cards for Paris, debuted last Saturday with victory in the Diamond League in Eugene (USA) with a mark of 14.73m, taking revenge on the short track world champion Thea Lafond (Dominica), who stretched to 14.62.
