Russian Special Forces Launch Anti-terrorist Operation in Dagestan

The special forces of the Federal Security Service (FSB) launched an anti-terrorist operation in the republic of Dagestan, in the North Caucasus, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee informed.

According to the official statement, law enforcement agencies “received information about the whereabouts of armed persons, involved in terrorist activities, and were blocked on Saturday night by FSB forces in several apartments of residential districts of the cities of Makhachkala and Kaspiysk.”

To ensure the safety of civilians in these areas, an anti-terrorist operation regime was established, and residents of neighboring houses were evacuated.

The committee noted that in this territory “special measures and temporary restrictions will be in force for the duration of the anti-terrorist operation regime, until a special order is issued”.

Likewise, the committee promised to additionally report on the development of the situation.
