Russian air defense systems shot down 18 Ukrainian attack drones that targeted the country's different regions in the last day, the Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.
The military institution announced on its official Telegram channel that the operational air defense detected and shot down seven airplane-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the Rostov territory, four over the Peninsula of Crimea, two over the Krasnodar Oblast, two over Kursk, the same number over the Black Sea, and one over Bryansk.
The Defense Ministry added in its release that the Ukrainian military has increased drone attacks on the Russian regions bordering the Sea of Azov in the last two weeks, although they have not stopped launching airstrikes on border provinces.
Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar, in turn, wrote on his social media that air defense systems repelled a drone attack in the Myasnikovsky and Neklinovsky districts.
The Russian provinces bordering Ukraine, such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, and the Peninsula of Crimea, regularly report shelling, drone strikes, and other attacks from across the border, forcing the population to seek shelter elsewhere.
