Russia verifies Armed Forces' training for defense

Moscow, Apr 6 (Prensa Latina) Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu on Tuesday announced the beginning of the control of combat readiness of commands, troops and military units of the Russian Armed Forces.

'According to the training plan of the Armed Forces, the inspections in the military command and units started today; the troops are heading to polygons where they will do tactic and bilateral drills,' Shoigu said in a videoconference from the Defense Management Center.

During April, 4,048 military exercises will be carried out nationwide, including 812 bilateral drills, in 520 training facilities and 101 training camps, said the Ministry of Defense, which was quoted by TASS news agency.

The military maneuvers will involve several branches of the Armed Forces and will take place in territories of all military districts in Russia, including the North Fleet and the Extreme Northern region, the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka, according to TASS.
