Moscow, Feb 20 (Prensa Latina) Russia registered its third Covid-19 vaccine under the name of CoviVac, produced by the Chumakov Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immune and Biological Products, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced today.

At a meeting with health authorities, Mishustin highlighted the 'good news' and said that the first 120,000 doses of the drug will be circulated in mid-March.

The head of the Russian cabinet explained that after control proceedings, the construction of the entire chain to maximize its production and its possible inclusion in the system of vaccine distribution are necessary.

He pointed out that immunization against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Russia is successfully making progress and that the country designed an online system to follow up the process.

By the end of this year's first half, the country is planning to produce 88 million sets of doses against the coronavirus, but CoviVac, First Deputy Minister Tatyana Golikova informed at the meeting.

She clarified that it will produce 83 million doses of Sputnik V and 5,4 million of EpiVacCorona.

Golikova indicated that, so far, the number of citizens over 60 years of age vaccinated against Covid-19 is 45 percent of the total of those immunized, but believed this figure is still insufficient and must be increased.
