Putin decrees martial law in new Russian regions

Moscow, Oct 19 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on martial law in the new four regions of the country, the official website of the Government reported on Wednesday.

Putin noted that he had signed a decree that declares martial law in these four constituent entities of the Russian Federation: Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia.

In a video conference, the president explained that this document will be sent immediately to the Council of the Federation and the State Duma (Houses of Parliament) for approval.

The head of State recalled that martial law was in force in these places before their incorporation into Russia was made official, and the regime must be made official within the framework of Russian legislation, he added.
