Prestigious Cuba circus artist German Muñoz passes away

 German Muñoz, 2021 National Circus Arts Award winner, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 61, according to a press release from the National Council of Performing Arts.

Muñoz was a descendant of one of the most famous circus artists in Cuba. He showed his talent in performances not only in Cuba but in more than a dozen countries in Latin America and Europe.

Among his merits are the creation and rescue of attractive and difficult juggling acts, the press release added.

In 1996, he founded the prestigious Havana Company, whose innovative style has been successfully praised by specialized critics.

Muñoz has won awards and recognition on the world’s major circus stages.

Considered a legend of contemporary Cuban circus, the relevant artist shared unforgettable moments in his career with world-renowned figures, like US singers Liza Minnelli and Tina Turner, as well as Princess Stephanie of Monaco, where he was highly acclaimed, the noted.

According to his family’s wishes, his remains will be cremated.
