Presentation of a book about ataxia in Cuba

In commemoration of Cuban Science Day, the publishing house Editorial Científico-Técnica is launching ScD Luis Velázquez Pérez’s book Las ataxias en Cuba - Biografía de un proyecto (Ataxias in Cuba, biography of a project) in a presentation co-sponsored by the Culture and Social Sciences Sections of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country.

The text reflects on the experience of the Center for Research and Rehabilitation of Hereditary Ataxias (CIRAH)—which the author founded and has directed for almost two decades—in various related fields and their development in Cuba and around the world.

An expert on Clinical Neurophysiology and 2nd degree specialist in Neurology, Dr. Luis Velázquez Pérez, who is the incumbent president of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, has received, among other distinctions, Cuba’s Carlos J. Finlay Order and the Georg Foster Research Award granted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
