The prominent Cuban actor Mario Limonta passed away in Havana on January 18, 2025, one day before his 89th birthday. Born on January 19, 1936 in Guantánamo, Limonta left an indelible mark on Cuban culture throughout more than six decades of artistic career.

The relationship between Limonta and Basnuevo transcended the stage. They met on the program "La corte suprema del arte" and married in 1960, sharing more than six decades of life together until Aurora's death in September 2022. Throughout his career, Mario Limonta received numerous awards, including the National Television Award in 2009, the National Humor Award in 2016, and the Lucía de Honor Award from the Gibara Film Festival in 2022.
