One of the most attractive vacation modalities in Cuba for 2025 is linked to nature, adventure, and rural experiences, particularly in the eastern region in places like Baracoa.

Nature tourism experts from around the world who have visited this region highlight its appeal. Baracoa is the first city founded by the Spanish on this island (1511).

The experts travel, for example, over 180 kilometers from the also eastern city of Holguín to reach the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, where they are assisted by local guides and officials.

At a scenic overlook facing Taco Bay, organized groups enjoying and observing the various trails gather to socialize with locals who possess an in-depth knowledge of the region, including both tourism officials and regional directors.

There, one can learn that this National Park is the most important in Cuba for its biodiversity in flora and fauna, evaluated as the largest remaining and best-conserved remnant of mountain ecosystems on the island.

The Park was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with the Cuchillas del Toa Biosphere Reserve as its core area.

The region encompasses an area of 70,680 hectares, of which 2,250 correspond to marine ecosystems and the remainder to terrestrial ones.

The Park is divided into four departments: Cupeyal del Norte, Ojito de Agua, La Melba, and Baracoa, a structure designed for better administration and conservation.

These are sites of mountains, rivers, and lush green vegetation that endures despite cyclones and other challenges.

Authorities stated at the time that, as part of the nature tourism development program, they are directing their projections toward identifying various sites with high aesthetic and biodiversity value.

This aims to position the area as a destination of interest for nature travel in the Caribbean region, offering 21 products in different modalities made available to national and international visitors (trails, bird watching, among others).

One of the area's privileged experiences involves exploring various trails. One of the most interesting is the ascent to El Yunque de Baracoa, a table-mountain that gives the landmark its name.

This hike takes about five hours of walking across approximately 10 kilometers but offers superb views of the region and the surroundings of Baracoa. It is undoubtedly an area with significant attractions for active holidays.
