The DPRK established diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level with the Republic of Cuba on August 29, 1960, in token of support for and solidarity with the Cuban government and people holding high the banner of socialism in the Western Hemisphere of the earth, says Minju Joson Tuesday in an article.

The two countries have waged a dynamic struggle shoulder to shoulder, deepening the feelings of fraternal friendship in the efforts to defend the gains of socialism and their sovereignty and dignity, the article notes, and goes on:

President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il formed comradely relations with comrades Fidel Castro Ruz and Raul Castro Ruz, close friends of the Korean people, and positively supported the Cuban people in their just struggle to defend socialism and the sovereignty of the country.

The DPRK and Cuba have invariably held fast to the banner of anti-imperialist independence and socialism, closely supporting and cooperating with each other even in the complicated international situation, and their friendly relations have been further cemented in this course.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un met with Comrade Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez on a visit to the DPRK in November Juche 107 (2018), highly appreciated that the history and tradition of friendship between the two countries have been invariably carried forward and further consolidated, and clarified the firm stand and will to further boost the strategic and comradely relations of friendship and cooperation.

Today the two countries constantly continue the history and tradition of friendship and further develop and expand it.
