Doha, Dec 28 (Prensa Latina) Argentina star Lionel Messi's room during the recently concluded 2022 World Cup will be turned into a museum, Qatar University announced today.
The place where the captain of the Albiceleste, winner of the championship, lived in the residence of the high center of studies during the days of the competition, will no longer receive guests and will preserve everything the player left there, for the memory of students and visitors of the Arab nation, QNA agency indicated.
Earlier, in 2019, the university headquarters served as a camp for the Liverpool team during its participation in the Club World Cup, which highly valued its conditions, which include courts, gyms, swimming pools and a stadium for training.
The same reasons seduced the Argentine national team to choose it instead of accepting the luxurious hotels in Qatar.
Qatar University’s director of communications and public relations, Hitmi al Hitmi, told local newspaper Al Sharq that for the World Cup the rooms were upgraded, in line with the players’ needs and FIFA standards.
‘The room of Argentina national team player Lionel Messi will remain unchanged and will remain available only for visits and not for residence, as it will serve as a small museum,’ he said.
With the triumph at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Argentina won the title for the third time in its history (1978 and 1986), allowing Lionel Messi to take the only major crown missing in his career.
