The Meeting of Peoples and Organizations of Abya Yala towards the Construction of a Plurinational America begins in Cochabamba, Bolivia, to strengthen integration mechanisms and the unity of peoples.

The town of San Benito in Cochabamba will be hosting a number of representatives of organizations of native indigenous peoples, farmers, trade unions, civil society and social forces from 10 countries to carry out actions to achieve harmony with Mother Earth and fight against capitalism, racism and discrimination.

The debates will also deal with defining a new political agenda, strengthen the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and recover the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP).

A press release on the meeting revealed that Cochabamba was chosen because it hosted the World People's Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth, in April 2010, and the World People's Conference on Climate Change and the Defense of Life (October 2015).

The San Benito municipality is the headquarters of UNASUR, hence the decision of Bolivia and Ecuador to begin a process of reconstruction and state refounding based on the principles of Living Well or Good Living, according to the document.

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales greeted the event on his Twitter account on Friday and stated that 'it will promote integration.'

On the other hand, representatives of organizations of native indigenous peasant peoples, trade unions and social forces from Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina and Peru signed the call for this meeting on November 12th, 2020 in Lauca (Cochabamba).
