Major Russian Hotel Chain to Operate Hotel in Cuba

The Cosmos Hotel Group, the largest of its kind in Russia, will operate a hotel in Cuba, marking a successful advancement in tourism relations between the two nations.
According to a report published Friday by the digital newspaper Cubadebate, Cosmos and the Cuban tourism group Gaviota S.A. signed a management agreement for the five-star Hotel Sierra Cristal in the eastern province of Holguín during the Moscow Tourism Forum. The company confirmed that the hotel will operate under the name Sierra Cristal by Cosmos Hotels.
Alexander Biba, President of Cosmos Hotel Group, stated that this is the company’s first international resort hotel to be managed abroad.
He noted that international projects form part of Cosmos Hotel Group’s long-term strategy. The company is currently assessing promising markets and negotiating new resort and urban complexes that will operate under Cosmos’ management and franchise agreements.
The Sierra Cristal is a five-star resort complex with 640 rooms, completed in 2024. It is located 25 kilometers from the city of Antilla, in Holguín Province, and 114 kilometers from Frank País International Airport.
Cosmos Hotel Group is a subsidiary of the investment conglomerate Sistema.nb. The Tourism Territories Forum (FTT-2025) took place on October 15 and 16 in Moscow, at the Luzhniki Olympic Complex.
