The ninth session of the Cuba-Italy Business Committee (CICI) was held today in Venice, northeastern Italy, with the purpose of assessing initiatives to make investments and business of interest to both parties viable.

The Cuban delegation was headed by Antonio Carricarte, head of the Chamber of Commerce, and also included Ambassador to Italy Mirta Granda, Deputy Minister of Tourism Adalberto Venero and Ivonne Grass, president of the CICI section in that country, as well as a large group of businessmen.

The large Italian representation was presided over by Mario Pozza, head of VenicePromex, an internationalization company of the Veneto region’s chamber system, as well as by Elisabetta Pola, president of the CICI section in this European nation.

The CICI, created on March 11, 2011, is aimed at strengthening economic and commercial relations between businessmen from both countries, serving as a fundamental instrument of information and assistance, as well as promoting the exchange of experiences for the development of business projects.

This committee works in coordination with the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, VenicePromex, the Italian Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (ICE), the Cuban Embassy in Rome and the Italian Embassy in Havana.

Pola, who also chairs the Italian company FTC SRL, told Prensa Latina that the event worked to identify those priority sectors of the Cuban economy, which are of interest to businessmen of this European country, one of the fundamental purposes of the CICI.

During this ninth session, the fulfillment of agreements reached at the end of last year during the Havana International Fair, which was attended by a large number of Italian entities, was analyzed.

Italian businessmen have never ceased to have a strong interest in the Cuban market’, he said, even in the midst of the complex situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and this is maintained in spite of the current international logistical problems.
