Iranian President Accuses U.S. of Backing Israeli Aggression

The United States is violating international norms and allowing Israel to invade Iran—a country that did not seek war—declared Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a parliamentary session on Monday.
"The United States uses force and allows Israel to invade our country in violation of international law. We did not want this war, nor did we initiate it. We were not the ones who assassinated our commanders and scientists; it was the terrorists who did that. What crime did a scientist commit to warrant someone coming from the other side of the world to destroy him and his family?" the president asked.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran does not reject negotiations and has no intention of developing nuclear weapons. "We have the right to use nuclear energy and to conduct research that benefits our society," he added.
The president also spoke on the importance of unity during difficult times.
"The enemy will not be able to remove us or our people from the battlefield through murder, violence, or terror, because behind every hero whose flag is torn from their hands, hundreds more will rise to lift that flag and resist oppression, brutality, crime, and betrayal committed by such despicable people. The people of Iran have already proven this and continue to stand firm against all these evils," he stated.
"We are not aggressors. Today, more than ever, we need unity and cohesion. All Iranians must come together [...] We must put aside all current differences and issues and resolutely confront this criminal genocide," he stressed. The Iranian president further claimed that "Israel seeks to eliminate Muslims one by one."
