International Food Fair is considered a success

With just hours left for the IV International Fair of Food, Beverage, Packaging and Food Technology (Cuba 2024) to conclude this Friday in the capital, its Organizing Committee considers it a success for having exceeded expectations in terms of number of entities and participating countries compared to the previous edition.

In a meeting with the press accredited to the event at Pabexpo, Liliana Mengana Orozco, director of International Relations of the Ministry of Food Industry (Minal), said that 188 companies attended the event, 113 of them from more than 20 countries, and 75 Cuban companies, including about 20 new economic actors.

She cited among the countries represented Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Namibia (for the first time), and stressed that the fair allowed to present our portfolio of exportable products and services and promote linkages or alliances, in order to revive the food industry.

She mentioned the signing of contracts that made official, for example, the creation of a new International Economic Association such as Embarca-Los Primos (between the Ciego de Avila Beverage and Soft Drinks Company and a Russian distillery company).

Claire Gracia, representing the Spanish firm Fira de Barcelona, which also sponsors this event together with Minal, the Palco Business Group and the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, thanked all the institutions that contributed to its success.

The role of the media in the dissemination of the main activities and purposes of this commercial event was also recognized, in which Cuban and mixed entities, whether producers, importers or traders of food, raw materials or technology, exhibited their portfolios of products and services, with the intention of also attracting foreign investment.

On this third day, the role of Cuban women in the food industry was discussed, and there were product presentations by companies such as Coralsa and the Isla Grande.
