Caracas, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) An official delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), led by its president, Duarte Pacheco, arrives in Venezuela today, in correspondence with the invitation made by the National Assembly (parliament) of this country.

The head of the IPU and his entourage will develop a work agenda in the South American nation until August 27, which will include meetings with the president of the legislature, Jorge Rodríguez; and its first vice president, Iris Varela.

They will also hold meetings with the Venezuelan group before the Inter-Parliamentary Union, as well as with the special commission of the National Assembly for dialogue, peace and reconciliation.

The international parliamentary delegation will also talk with representatives of the parliamentary benches, authorities of the public powers and the National Electoral Council, reported the newspaper Últimas Noticias in its digital edition.

A delegation from the Venezuelan parliament, made up of deputies related to the Bolivarian government and the so-called democratic opposition, visited Geneva in April in order to strengthen relations with the IPU.

The president of the Venezuelan National Assembly then highlighted the objective of making the truth of Venezuela known beyond the media campaign against the Bolivarian nation.
