The 2025 Taekwondo Open Festival will bring together athletes from Cuba, Costa Rica and Mexico from this Wednesday until December 14 at the Sports City Coliseum, as confirmed by the president of the Cuban Taekwondo Federation, Iván Fernández.

The competition is part of the Córdova Cardín Cups, held annually in December, and is organized by the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) and the Cubadeportes S.A. Mercantile Company, with sponsorship from other entities.

The program includes kyorugi, poomsae, TK3, and parataekwondo in cadet, junior, and adult categories.

The traditional and freestyle poomsae competitions will take place on December 10th and 11th with two sessions each day.

TK3 in taekwondo is a team event where three competitors take turns facing off against another trio, combining strategy, speed, and coordination. The goal is to accumulate team points, making the competition more demanding and spectacular than individual matches.

The festival solidifies Cuba’s position as a key venue for international taekwondo and a space for cultural exchange.
