The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, described the Industrial Military Enterprise Brigadier General Francisco Cruz Bouzarc, belonging to the Union of Military Industry (UIM), located in the province of Mayabeque, as an example for Cuba's business system.

"The visit to this socialist enterprise is an important learning experience, we all have a lot to learn from you," he said to the chiefs and workers of the entity, which employs some 1,300 people, including military and civilians, according to the Presidential website.

Accompanied by the member of the Political Bureau and Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, and Brigadier General Israel Cervantes Tablada, General Director of the UIM, he learned about the performance of the company which, in the midst of a very complex year for the country, closes with efficiency in all its indicators.

Its development projects include armaments for defense, as well as important productions for the energy, poultry, livestock and agricultural mechanization sectors.

First Colonel Victoriano Dimas Illana, General Director of the Military Industrial Company, explained to the Head of State the products and services provided for the improvement of the country's electric power system, with special emphasis on the maintenance and repair of equipment in several thermoelectric plants; also in the water supply, with the repair of pumping machines in all provinces; as well as the production of light roofing: More than 60% of them were used in the last year for the recovery of Pinar del Río, after the passage of hurricane Ian.

Of special sensitivity are the agricultural works within the Company, where rice, beans, vegetables and viands are grown, and buffaloes, rams, pigs, chickens and fish are also bred.

The Cuban President left written in the visitors' book: "We appreciate the work culture, discipline, innovation and technology that you have developed, turning the Army General's indication into reality. This group of workers and its management show on a daily basis that it is possible".

The tour included a visit to the Livestock Module of the Loma de Tierra Military Unit.

Several times he emphasized the example set by the FAR, when talking about work, perseverance and discipline.

HOPE

"We lost everything because of alcohol", says Frank, who, together with his brother Carlos, lived the last 14 years in the street, as a consequence of his addiction. Three months ago the reality is different: they have found love under the roof of the home that Campamento Agropecuario Quisicuaba, and its assisted living center, has become for them.

They spoke with pride about the family they have found in this shelter of the Cabildo Quisicuaba Sociocultural Project, directed by Dr. Enrique Alemán Gutiérrez.

Díaz-Canel arrived at this site, located in the municipality of San Antonio de los Baños, where the pre-university in the Comuna de París camp used to be.

There are already about 40 people who have begun to live in the facilities, which will gradually create conditions to accommodate about 800 street dwellers.

"This is a space for healing, we do not welcome anyone to come to work, but to be cared for," said Enrique Alemán as they toured the dormitories, bathrooms, dining room and infirmary.

Although none of them come here under the condition of working, the gratitude of those who are able to do so, does not allow them to be calm and they seek to repay the attention by cleaning the corridors, scrubbing, or doing some useful activity for the family they have been creating there.

When the President asked how they feel here, the "very well" of those who have hope on their faces was the confirmation of how much gratitude they carry with them.

IN MATANZAS

In Matanzas, the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, visited the provincial hospital Faustino Pérez, where he appreciated the qualitative changes in the emergency and urgency center, with a different configuration and comfort, and several new spaces for patients, their families and those who work there.

He also saw the resuscitation center on the southern bank of the San Juan River, and the new maternity home in the neighborhood of Versalles, which has thirty beds for the care of patients at high obstetric risk.
