The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, remains in the memory of Salvadorans who stand in solidarity with the island, 99 years after his birth.
Fidel lives on in the validity of his thought as one of the great figures of the 20th century, which allowed him to travel to the future to warn the world of the dangers of the unpayable foreign debt for developing countries and the climate crisis that today threatens human existence, for example, according to attendees at a cultural gathering in this capital.
The tribute was enlivened by Salvadoran singer Moises Ramos, who performed several songs popularized by Carlos Puebla and his group.
Very much applauded was ʺY en eso llego Fidelʺ (And then Fidel arrived), which alludes to the end of the debauchery of US monopolies in Cuba with the triumph of the Revolution in 1959.
Cuban ambassador to El Salvador, Tomas Lorenzo, in his address decried the latest US aggressions against his country, which stand aganst the Caribbean nation in addition to the measures implemented by the Donald Trump administration during his first term. The Cuban diplomat thanked Salvadorans for their solidarity with the tribute to Fidel on his birthday.
On August 13, among other activities, solidarity groups gathered at the Jose Marti bullring in this capital to commemorate Fidel’s birth and his great work for humanity, with a profound internationalist sentiment that characterizes the Cuban Revolution.
