While Havana was hosting live concerts where both American and Cuban musicians residing in Cuba or the U.S., a small group of people tried to undermine in Florida the performance of an iconic Cuban orchestra.

It is shameful to even listen to those protesters: their offense summed up the common spots for the aggressive and vulgar propaganda against Cuba. The political blindness of these individuals leads them to address as “communists” (with all the derogatory image embedded in that specific term for them) to everyone aiming at having a normal relationship with Cuba, their home country.

Such blindness has to do, by the way, with the extremism-related stance of some right-winged politicians. Senator Marco Rubio, for instance, labels as Marxist-followers all those member of Congress urging for, at least, a limited normalization of the bonds between the U.S. and Cuba, or Venezuela. Delusional.

Either this is stupidity, or just crude political calculation.

The truth is that the message of certain sector from the exile based in Miami is pretty ridiculous. And it is, consequently, disastrous.

It represents the radicalization of actually reactionary stances. And their language is, of course, that of hate. No small nuances. No midpoints: everything that relates somehow with Cuban institutions, even if it does not have a clear political nature, should be reviled.

"Accomplices" is one of their favorite terms.

In times of tangible bilateral tension, culture was a space of certain confluence between the two countries. In times of arduous ideological confrontation, art always built bridges. Just like sports.

But these extremist sectors do not even believe in the conciliatory role of artistic culture. Emboldened by policies implemented for decades (failed, considering that the system in Cuba has not collapsed), they throw darts at anyone who advocates for dialogue and understanding.

Anyone who disagree with their views is simply another communist. And he or she deserves to be offended and boycotted.

They have insisted that art is politicized in Cuba, but in Cuba, actually, no one asks artists about their political affiliation. In Miami, they do not really ask them either: if he or she comes from Cuba and has not made incendiary statements against the Cuban government, he or she is the enemy.

The network of hate is established in most of the Spanish-language media, which are beneficiaries of the anti-Cuban industry. And certain characters from social networks, who were always part of the most banal show business, are now political figures.

Just take a look at those networks: platforms of aggressiveness, rudeness, verbal violence. They are the standard-bearers of hate.

But they are a minority. Beyond political differences, many Cubans from both shores are determined to strengthen ties. Bridges of love. A firm commitment to communication and respectful debate.

A constructive and harmonious relationship between Cuba and its emigration is possible. It has been proven. The side of the enemies of the Revolution aims to blow up any effort.

They do not even bother to appear diplomatic. They believe in blackmail, pressure, attacks... They believe in violence.

It is the pseudo-culture of hate, which limits and denigrates.
