Two new bills and vital issues of Cuba's economic performance are among the matters foreseen in the parliamentary agenda for its upcoming session, according to Parliament's sources.

On December 16 and 17, the National Assembly of the People's Power (Parliament) will virtually hold its 6th ordinary period of sessions in the 9th Legislature, in which issues such as the goals of the economic plan and the State budget for 2021 will be addressed.

The bills on the organization and functioning of the provincial governments and the Municipal Administration Councils will also be submitted for approval.

The Assembly's Secretary Homero Acosta detailed at a press briefing that the meeting will include this time the reports of the ministries as part of the session program.

On the occasion, the Ministry of Public Health will update on the role of science in the fight against Covid-19; the Ministry of Domestic Trade will refer to issues related to the improvement of the sector; and, the Ministry of Agriculture and the AZCUBA group will report on the results of agricultural and sugar production, as well as their perspectives.

Lawmakers will also learn about the progress of the legislative schedule and the proposal for its readjustment for approval, in addition to deciding on the exercise of high audit and accountability of an agency of the central State administration and a provincial government.
