Díaz-Canel presides over the final session of the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba

Havana, May 2 (RHC)--Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez presides over the final plenary session of the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba at the Convention Center, attended by 1,072 delegates from 219 organizations from 60 countries.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Cuban Tradeunion Federation (CTC)--, made the opening remarks in which he emphasized that after two years without being able to hold the event following the Covid-19 pandemic, "we meet today to articulate ideas and consensus that  to counteract the policies of imperialism and its neoliberal dictates."

He commented that in the previous days, the delegates were able to visit work centers, neighborhoods where transformations are being carried out, and social situations are being attended to.

"Only those who fight, resist, and do not give in to imperialism have the right to triumph," concluded Ulises Guilarte his speech. He thanked all the participants for their solidarity with the cause of the Cuban people.

Representatives of political parties, trade unions, and progressive movements will also debate the impact of Covid-19, human rights, and democracy searching for unity and agreement for the struggle.

The event will work in three commissions organized around solidarity with the people's just causes; the world economic crisis, COVID-19, and the right of the peoples to life; and Unity in diversity in the anti-imperialist struggle of the peoples.

The meeting has been held in Havana since 1994. It has become a point of convergence of the revolutionary anti-imperialist movements of the world.
