Diaz-Canel visits tourist facilities in Jardines del Rey

Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, toured today tourist and extra-hotel facilities located in the Jardines del Rey tourist destination, venue of the International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2024) May 2 through May 5.

The president, accompanied by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Garcia Granda, visited the Jardines del Rey airport in the central province of Ciego de Avila, the main gateway to the pole, according to X of the Presidency.

The facility receives about 36 flights a week, mostly from Canada and Russia, and in high season it reaches 53.

Diaz-Canel and Marrero visited, among other places, the Costa Rey Hotel, which since Friday operates under a management contract with the Spanish chain Melia and serves as the venue for the 42nd edition of FITCuba.

"The five-star hotel has five hundred and sixty-five rooms. It works mainly with the Canadian, Argentine, Russian and other European markets. It maintains an occupancy rate of over 75 %," the Presidency noted.

Cuba head of state was briefed on the potential, prospects, novelties and attractions of the tourist center and the entire country.
