Diaz-Canel highlights production of Cuban vaccine candidate

Havana, Feb 21 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday highlighted the achievements being made in the large-scale production of Cuba's vaccine candidate Soberana 02 against Covid-19, 'another step towards the much-desired immunization of Cubans'.

On his Twitter account, the president urged that 'the good news does not make us lower our guard'.

'Soberana 02 is being produced at a large scale at Biocen, a scientific institution attached to the BioCubaFarma entrepreneurial group and it has 30 years' experience in vaccine production,' the head of State tweeted.

Previously, BioCubaFarma had pointed out that the Cuban prototype is being produced at Biocen to be used in phase III of clinical trials that will start in March.

Group President Eduardo Martinez noted that the system is designed to product the other Cuban vaccine candidates at a large scale as soon as they are ready.
